LT1 visits our woodturning workshop

Upper Austria's largest private broadcaster LT1 sent Dominik Glöbl – their "Bavarian in Upper Austria" – to our Innviertel region to visit the carpenter and wood turner Gerhard Wimmer.

Dominik was able to witness firsthand how we create handcrafted wooden curling sticks from local pear wood. From the raw material to the finished curling stick, the traditional techniques were explained and demonstrated, showing how precision, experience, and attention to detail make each piece unique.

From the lathe to the ORF

The ORF report vividly shows how traditional craftsmanship and state-of-the-art precision combine to create a unique product – and how much passion goes into every wooden curling stick.

Gerhard Wimmer's passion for curling sticks runs in his blood. Even as a child, he spent hours in his father's workshop, learning the traditional craft. Today, he runs the family business in its second generation, producing up to 3,000 wooden curling sticks per year, which are exported to Austria, Germany, Europe, and even the USA.
